Things I Have Learned About My Dreads

Even though my dreads have been backcombed, twisting at the root of the dread helps tighten them up, especially if you put them up in a ponytail so it stays twisted longer.

I need to decide in the shower if I want my hair up or down for the next couple of days. When wet, they will conform to being up or down, but not both.

Rubbing the outsides of the dreads will not get rid of the fuzzies. I wasted two days furiously rubbing those shits for naught.

Having fuzzy dreads is kind of the norm. They aren't absolutely perfect nor are they expected to be.

Dread Head Dread Wax is easier to work with after buzzing it in the microwave for a couple of minutes. I find it easier to control the amount I take out and easier to spread on the dread.

Half up/half down is much more fun now that I can tie my hair together. :D It is also the perfect compromise. I can wear my hair down and keep those pesky short dreads out of my face.

Cover the head when out in the woods. I was feeling squirrely one day and took a walk in the woods. Well, I ended up getting turned around and spent a lot of time fighting my way back out. I finally got back to the house where my grandma promptly laughed herself silly at the amount of crap I'd gotten caught up in my hair. She had to pick me clean like an ape. Cover the head when out in the woods.

I can't wait for the two short 'bang' dreads to grow out. When I take my ponytail down, they flop forward and I look something like Larxene. Can't wait for that madness to find its end. (Why are they so stiff anyway?)

Buy beads from a craft store. I bought a little package of fifteen wooden beads for three bucks. Made a little bracelet to match my hair. Subnote here: I once put all fifteen of the beads in my hair; not a good idea.

I have a friend who smokes in her house. While this is delightful in the wintertimes as we aren't forced to tromp outside and freeze to death, the after-smell can be a bit overwhelming. I carry around Febreeze in my car and have been known to spray it not only on my clothes but in my hair as well. Makes it right as rain.

That's all for now. Fair well.
